We’re delighted to announce the arrival of three new team members at H. Porter & Sons – all of whom are very experienced in funerals and caring for bereaved families.

Maria joins us as Manager and will play a key role in the day-to-day running of our funeral directors’ premises in South Road. She’s worked in funeral service for many years and is a real stickler for detail and high standards.

Commenting on her appointment, Maria, of Kings Norton, says: “It’s a wonderful team at H. Porter & Sons and I’m delighted to be on board. The investment in facilities and staff at H. Porter & Sons is incredible and it means families get the very best service right from the first call and caring for their loved one through to the funeral service itself and follow-up bereavement support.”

She added: “I’ve been working in funerals for the best part of a decade, following a career in banking. Once you join the funeral profession, it stays with you and the reward is in seeing the difference you make for families. There’s no other job like it.”

Nick, (pictured right) from Harborne, is a new Funeral Assistant and joins in a part-time capacity. He too has many years’ experience in funeral service and will provide support to the team including hearse driving, coffin preparation, bearing and more.

He commented: “As Maria says, the facilities here are outstanding and I’m privileged to join this wonderful, close-knit team. I’ve worked for a range of funeral businesses in the past – both large and small – but the standards at H. Porter & Sons are second to none. I’m looking forward to supporting clients and making sure everything goes smoothly for them.”

Chad also joins as a Funeral Assistant and will perform tasks such as bringing deceased persons into the care of the business, supporting the team at funerals and hearse driving. Hailing from Brierley Hill, Chad knows the area well and is excited about working with the H. Porter & Sons team.

“It’s absolutely brilliant to be a part of H. Porter & Sons. They’ve got a fantastic reputation locally and I hope to be able to help carry that on during my time with the company. Everyone is really friendly and approachable – and cares deeply about the work they do. Whether it’s front or back of house, we’re all working to make a difficult time for families easier,” he said.

H. Porter & Sons owner and Director Lucy Porter welcomed the new team members.

She said: “Maria, Nick and Chad are already proving to be real assets to the business – they’ve all hit the ground running and feel very much like natural members of the team. I know they’re going to do great things for our clients and continue the tradition of service and care which spans more than 175 years. We’re also proud to be providing good employment opportunities and supporting the local economy as an independent, family-run business, whose success is made possible thanks to the passion and commitment of our colleagues. We very much see ourselves as a family caring for your family.”
