Bereaved by suicide
At H. Porter & Sons, we pride ourselves on providing support after someone may have died by suicide.
The majority of our team have undertaken suicide bereavement training and will be able to guide you, using the right words, from the moment of first contact, during the making of arrangements, through to the day of the funeral and beyond. We have a number of printed guides to support you, can signpost you to apps, literature and groups that will continue to support the family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances of the person who has died, for as long as you need us.
There are many support resources, information and support available. A good starting point is https://supportaftersuicide.org.uk.
We would also suggest the following resources:
- https://www.reachoutdudley.co.uk encouraging the bereaved to talk about suicide.
- https://www.blackcountrymentalhealth.org.uk a mental health charity offering support across the Black Country.
- https://hubofhope.co.uk Is online and available as an app and is an amazing signposting resource to all kinds of support when times feel hard.
- https://uksobs.org Who exist to meet the needs and overcome the isolation experienced by people who have been bereaved by suicide.
There are a range of resources below that you can download. Alternatively, we keep copies of many of these in our offices, available for free.
