Helping carers care for families affected by suicide

With cases of suicide sadly on the rise, it’s vital that professionals who support affected families are equipped with the best skills and knowledge.
To help do our bit locally, H. Porter & Sons is hosting a special one-day training course in partnership with Suicide Bereavement UK on Tuesday, March 28.
Titled ‘Postvention Assisting those Bereaved By Suicide’ (PABBS), the course is open to local funeral directors, registration staff, healthcare workers, ministers, celebrants and other interested parties.
Forming part of Continuing Professional Development, it offers an opportunity to help teams increase their knowledge, skills and confidence, leaving them better prepared to care for the relatives of someone who has taken their own life.
PABBS was devised by experts at Suicide Bereavement UK but is not currently available in the Midlands, which prompted H. Porter & Sons to organise this training event.
The course, which has limited spaces, will take place in The Lounge at our South Road premises in Stourbridge.
Further information about PABBS can be found here.
